My Red Hibiscus Painting In Progress

This is my new commission painting of two big red hibiscus flowers acrylic on canvas in big size. As you can see in the photo the image is not detailed yet. This is just the first base of colors. I did the sketch and texture first then I applied the first layer of colors. Right now I have progressed ten times more than this. I will be showing you how it looks soon. Actually before I begun I went outside the park and took photo shots of the real hibiscus flower. This serves as my reference while I paint.



The day of the hearts is fast approaching! I painted a tuxedo cat with a red flower on her head. I thought about using this image as a Valentine's Day card. You can buy a few to send to your loved ones!

My New Painting White Cala Lilies

I love painting flowers and one of my favorites is this white cala lily flowers below. I just finished this few days ago and I am very happy with the outcome. I like to use a stretched canvas because it is ready to hang even with no frame. I used acrylic paints but before I appply this I add texture over the sketch by adding modeling paste using a palette knife. Then after it dries up I applied the paints and keep on rendering until I finish. Most of the time I use the palette knife to add my desired colors. Below is the before and after effect.

Heliconia Tropical Flower Painting

As I promised this is the actual painting of different types of heliconia flowers tropical original painting I did. The picture is not quite big and clear but if you will see it close up you will notice small frogs and hummingbirds. This is a big painting with a size of about 48"x48" done in acrylic paints. I will show this in my coming art expo on August. I am still thinking on what to do next. A surrealistic tropical forest landscape or a huge trunk with orchids. I will let you know which one I am inspired to do.

Sold Orchids Original Painting

I have not been blogging for a long time already! Sorry for not doing it frequently as before. The good news is I've joined a couple of art expositions. Just recently I was invited to join the Plaza Del Sol Art Expo for fours days in the city of San Jose, Costa Rica. It was a success! I sold a couple of original paintings and prints.

Few weeks before this I was at the International Art Festival held at La Sabana, San Jose, Costa Rica. One of the highlight in my show is this original painting of white orchids on a tree done in acrylic in triptych huge canvases. Everybody who stop by and visited my booth loved this painting. In a very short time during the show this piece was sold with a handsome price tag. Currently I am working on a similar piece commissioned by a family who is going to give it as a gift to their mother. I will be finishing this in a few days.

I have been busy these days attending one of the biggest art festival
here in Costa Rica, "International Art Festival" in La Sabana, San Jose,
Costa Rica, April 11-20, 2008. For those of you who might be wondering

Flower Painting Commission

I am working mostly of commissions these days. One of the art project that I just finished was two watercolor paintings of Cala Lilies, size about 10 x 35 inches each. My client saw me in one of the arts and crafts festival that I attended last December 2006. She really loves cala lilies and so she asked me to create an original art so I did this for her.
